In this visual analysis, a graduate of the Holistic Biography Work training reads Gandhi’s life through the lenses taught in the program — life phases and planetary rhythms, temperament, archetype, obstacles and mission. Thirty charts follow ‘an unlikely hero: a simple man not daunted by an enormous challenge’ from a shy childhood to Father of the Nation.

The study moves through the biography phase by phase. Birth to 21: a childhood under the Moon in a household that combined politics and virtue, the quiet conscientious boy, the bout of rebellion at fifteen. 21 to 42: the law studies, the first case won after his mother’s death, the South African years in which he discovers that he prefers helping people reconcile, and the oath of celibacy at 37 as full commitment to public life.
42 to 63: the return to India as a hero at 44, the step onto the stage of the independence struggle under Jupiter and Saturn, and at 59 the declared intent to fight for total independence. 63 to 79: the demand for British withdrawal under Uranus, the attempted retirement, the handing over of the legacy to Nehru at 72, and the death — under Pluto — that itself fulfilled his message, earning him the title Father of the Nation.
Further charts read the life as transformation and individuation through the four seasons — spring, summer, autumn, winter — the Jupiter and Saturn cycle, the Mirroring and metamorphosis around the midpoint of the biography, and the twenty-one years it took for the idea of non-violence to incubate into a form of resistance.
The closing charts characterise the melancholic temperament, truly connected with suffering; the archetype, in his own words — ‘an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind’; obstacles as redirection that awakened him to his destiny; the mastery over physical instincts; and the mission: imbuing politics with humanity, morality and truth.
