A worked example of the Biographical Analysis as practised in the Training in Holistic Biography Work.
In this study, written in German in 2001 and translated by the author in 2024, the life of the astronomer Johannes Kepler (1571 – 1630) is read through a biographical and karmic lens: the course of the biography in septennials, with its motifs, turning points and mirrorings; the Jupiter, Lunar-Node and Saturn rhythms; and five karmic motifs, offered as a karmic hypothesis.
Written in German in 2001 and translated by the author in 2024, this study reads the life of the astronomer Johannes Kepler in four movements. Part 1 follows the facets of the biography from the weak seven-month child of Weil der Stadt through smallpox and the Tübingen years to Graz, Prague and Linz — the epiphany of 9 July 1595, the meeting with Tycho de Brahe, the three planetary laws, the witch trial of his mother, the exclusion from Communion, and the delivery of the Rudolphine Tables shortly before his death in 1630.
Part 2 reads the same life as biographical aspects: I-points, motifs, turning points and Mirrorings through nine septennials, then the Jupiter, Lunar-Node and Saturn rhythms. Part 3 offers five karmic motifs as a karmic hypothesis — Nature-Karma, the Mirroring of an Egyptian-Chaldean incarnation, the self-formulated principles of faith, and the connections with the Rosicrucian and Grail streams — with Rudolf Steiner’s indications on Kepler and on Tycho de Brahe. Part 4 condenses it all into an annotated timeline.
