Awakening the Will to Learn

All three Holistic Adult Learning modules start with ADL-70; available as a free download.

This course builds on ADL-70: Core Principles, Skills & Practices in Adult Learning and is inspired by Coenraad van Houten’s research and publications.

ADL-71 Awakening the Will to Learn explores the nature of adult learning and the work of an adult educator.
During this course, you will learn more about adult learning and your own strengths and challenges as a learner. You will also learn more about what is means to be an educator working with adults, and how your skills in this area may be developed further.

Topics of ADL-71 include:

  • Enthusiasm as an Agent to Awaken the Will
    Igniting Fires instead of filling bottles
  • The 3 Paths of Learning
  • Introducing an Archetypal learning process:
    The 7-step Learning-Processes derived from the 7-Life-Processes
  • The importance of individualisation in Adult Learning Processes
  • The 3 Learning Barriers related to Thinking, Feeling and Will (intention & action)
  • 7 Professional Fields of the Adult Educator
  • 3 levels in the Learner / Educator relationship
  • The Path of the True Teacher

Online group-work explores:

  • Evaluating and learning from positive and challenging learning experiences
  • Practising the 7-step Archetypal Learning Process
  • Evaluating learning strengths and challenges related to the 7-step Learning Process
  • Evaluating learning strengths and challenges related to thinking, feeling and will (intentions & action)
  • Reflecting on myself as a learner and a teacher through the lens of the 7 Professional Fields of Adult Learning
